Philly's I-95 Park Cap Project Set to Break Ground

In an exciting update the much-anticipated groundbreaking ceremony for the expansive cap park over I-95 is now slated for the day after Labor Day, as officially announced by the Delaware River Waterfront Corporation.

Scheduled for September 6th, this momentous occasion signifies a pivotal step forward for the 11.5-acre public haven, poised to reconnect the vibrance of Center City with the scenic Delaware waterfront. The jewel of this transformative project, a versatile plaza gracefully arching above the highway, is set to span the distance from Chestnut to Walnut streets, forging a unique link between two iconic urban landscapes.

With a budget of $329 million, this visionary undertaking also encompasses the creation of a brand-new, dedicated bridge which will allow pedestrians and cyclists alike to traverse effortlessly from South Street to the Delaware River Trail, thereby enhancing the city's accessibility and promoting an eco-friendly means of transportation.
